AURA is a wearable that gives sight through sound. Built around a Seeed XIAO ESP32-S3 Sense with an onboard camera, microphone, and speaker, it captures the world in front of you and — using Google Gemini vision — speaks back a description of the scene or reads any text it can see.
Two capacitive touch pads put everything a fingertip away. Tap to hear what's in front of you; hold to read a sign, a label, or a page aloud. It works fully standalone — no phone required, even with your phone locked or left at home — answering right there through its built-in speaker.
When you do want more, AURA hosts its own web app over WiFi. An iPhone (or any browser) connects directly to the glasses to see a live view, browse captured photos and clips, and keep an AI-written journal of your day. The device logs continuously to a microSD card — rolling audio and video windows mean you can always save the last few moments after they happen.
Every design decision was made for real-world assistive use: on-device AI so it works offline of your phone, gentle audio chirps to confirm each action, and an LED status light that never gets in the way of recording.
